It’s art-tober (it’s not always ink) 😉 this year I’m doing the list from AI-weirdnes and today is “The Masked Skeleton”. Naturally the first thing I thought of was Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon.

I thought it’d be fun to do #MerMay. I felt challenged by being part of the Comic Artists Unite Discord and then seeing Jen519 post about it on Instagram.
You’ll notice a sudden shift in quality as these go forward. I realized that the goal I wanted to accomplish was “completing” the challenge as in producing thirty-one drawings of mer-folk. To that end I have decided to worry less about the “quality” of the drawings over all. As in get them done first, get the speed up, and then if you like one go back and make it “gud”.

Today’s Tiny Things is a gum wrapper, and strictly speaking Hi-Chew is not gum … but it was the closest thing I had.
So we begin! Kicking it off with a little lettering and today’s awesome #Sketch_Dailies topic of Dredd.
This Dredd is inspired by Karl Urban’s fantastic job portraying the best judge in Mega City 1. While the movie isn’t for everyone, it does what it does really well. Plus I’d love to see a sequel. I have little hope of such a thing … but I’d love to see it.
Also you can tell where I wandered off of my guide lines for the lettering. But still I’m quite pleased with this.
This particular character goes quite a ways back in my personal creative history. I came up with him … I think it was my sophomore year of high school. I have been playing with the idea of doing some mini comics and I have the basics of a short story featuring this character. I think I’ll do some scripting after I post this, see if I can’t exercise my creative muscles a bit.
On one side is just some warm up stuff, the hand sketches were pretty fun, although hands are still a pain to draw. The other side is a sketch of a character that’s been rattling around in my head for a while now. We’ll see if anything comes of that.
